Writing files to CDs and DVDs   "Burning"

How do I put my documents or files onto a disk?

Using a writable CD?

* use Windows/My Computer "Write Files to CD" wizard

* or CDBurnerXP (click on the Start button)

Writeable DVD?

* use CDBurnerXP

Using Windows

Save and close the work you wish to burn to My Documents first.

1. Insert disk into CD/DVD drive

2. Make sure you have closed your work before you try copying it to CD

3. Open My Computer

4. Copy the files you wish to burn to disk (ie select files from My Documents, then use menu Edit, Copy)

    Or right-click Send To CD

5. Paste the files to the CD drive Z:\ (ie click on Z:\ drive and use menu Edit, Paste)

If you used Send To don't paste open My Computer and go to CD Drive Z:\

6. When ready - that is you have selected and copied all the files you wish to burn click on the Z:\ drive

7. Select File "Write these files to CD"

8. After the burning process has finished the disk will eject from the CD drive.

Put the disk back in the computer and double check that your files have successfully been copied to the disk.

You need to follow this process each time you wish to update the files on the CD.  Save to My Documents then copy over to the CD Drive.
